(June 2, 2026). OLIVIA O MUSICAL will have its Canadian debut at the 2026 Toronto Fringe Festival this summer following recent recognitions from the Toronto Fringe (Adams Prize for Musical Theatre) and the Playwright’s Guild of Canada (Tom Hendry Award).

Award-winning director Jennica Carmona will direct the Toronto Fringe Festival performances of OLIVIA O MUSICAL, which will play from July 2nd to July 12th at the Factory Theatre Mainstage in Toronto, ON.

Set in El Paso, Texas, the story follows a 14-year-old girl separated from her mother at the U.S.Mexico border and placed in an abusive foster home, alongside her aunt, who builds a community of resistance and care in an effort to reunite families divided by immigration policies.

“It’s exciting to see the growing support for this musical as a way to see beyond the noise of immigration politics and humanize the stories of what’s happening at the US-Mexican border. With the recent Adams Prize and Tom Hendry award recognitions, and successful festival shows in Dallas and New York, we are excited and ready to bring this show to life on the Toronto stage “ said Carmona.

Olivia O was written and is being produced by a collaborative team of Canadian and American theatre artists.
